Exercise #1

Nashville System Chords

In this exercise, you will be asked to play a note on a specific string. Select the corret fret and submit your answer.

How to Play

  • Setup Your Practice: Before starting, select your desired practice Key (or choose "Any" for a random mix) and adjust your timer duration.
  • Analyze the Prompt: Once the game starts, you will be given a Key (e.g., C) and a Nashville Number / Roman Numeral (e.g., IV).
  • Submit Your Answer: If Quiz Mode is enabled, use your music theory knowledge to determine the actual chord. Select the correct major or minor chord from the grid below before the timer runs out!
  • Review Feedback: If you guess correctly, the game will quickly load the next prompt. If you guess incorrectly or run out of time, the game will pause for 5 seconds to display the correct answer so you can learn from your mistake.
  • Customize Your Session: Use the toggles to adjust the game to your liking:
    • Quiz Mode Toggle: Turn this off to treat the exercise like a standard flashcard deck. The game will display the prompt and automatically move to the next one when the timer runs out, without requiring you to click an answer.
    • Show Sharps / Flats: Click this button at the top to switch the enharmonic spelling of the notes based on the key you are practicing.
